Introduction

Understanding  the Conservation area is.

In BHCC's own words; "The purpose of this character statement is to provide both an account of the College Conservation Area and a clear indication of Brighton & Hove City Council’s approach to its preservation and enhancement. It is intended to assist and guide all those involved in development and change in the conservation area and will be used by the Council in assessing the design of development in future planning proposals. "

Conclusion 

Although Residents did not make much of an initial impact on the new Statement they did learn that community pressure did result in BHCC publishing additional feedback when it had no plans to, compare Appendix 2 and 3 to see the difference a little community action can make.

The new statement has been published and it's unlikely that it can be changed,  But there are other issues than need addressing.
