For many members of the Community, parent carking and luxury coach parking at certain times of the morning and afternoon presents a real concern for safe use of Sutherland Road and Belle Vue Gardens by pedestrians, cyclists and other road users. On weekdays multiple buses can be found double parked on the southbound side of the road.
Typically, the greatest bus congestion is between:
0800 -0900 : Student drop off
1100-1200 : Sport teams collection and drop off
1600-1700: Student collection
The addition of mulitple luxury minibuses has made the dangerous situation on Sutherland Road worse.
The only way of getting BHCC/Police to take action is to use the Operation Crackdown website to complain. If one or two people complain once a year then it's unlikely that BHCC/Police will take any notice. However, if they receive one thousand complaints then they are forced to act. Our aim is to get to that number in 2024.
This process can also be used for cars parked on pavements, non residents in residents parking bays and double yellow lines.
Firstly, you will need a photo of the Bus/Car you wish to complain about. Once you have a photo then:
Click on this link to get to Operation Crackdown to begin your complaint
Click on Anti Social Driving
You will see a table of the number of Compaints, there are hundreds a month.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Start My Complaint
You will be asked to confirm you have corroborative evidence - this is why you need a photo.
You will be taken to an new pay croll down and click on Respond to this Appeal.
Confirm you're Human.
And they start answering this questions.
It helps if you have a browser that supports AUTO FILL. So most of these questions will be completed for you.
Add whatever you like to the free text box Double Parked Bus in the middle of the road with engine running. School Minibus blocking Road, Car parked on Double Yellow Line.
Note: From Tuesday 2 January, motorists could be issued with a £40 fine (also known as a Fixed Penalty Notice or FPN) if they leave their vehicles running when parked up. You can find more information here.
You will be asked to upload a Photo
Add a Photo. I usually take a photo including the VRN. Something like the image at the top of this page.
Remember to make sure it's a small image and a compatible one.
Then click on Submit.
You should get an acknowledgment from the Op Crackdown.
Please note you should not post the image on any social media platform.
