The community conducted a survey of residents who live within or close to the College Conservation Area. We asked for people's experience of Brighton College's construction projects to date.
The majority of residents were dissatisfied by college's construction projects. In particularly they thought:
The College poorly controlled construction projects and their contractors.
They failed to control construction noise, often ignoring construction curfew times.
Construction Transport and deliveries were poorly managed.
Construction plans were poorly communicated and BHCC rarely informed about closures.
Many felt the College did not adhere to planning regulations.
Few doubted that the college was interested in environmental controls with clouds of dust covering residents cars, loud contruction noise on Bank Holidays and Sundays, and mud left on the roads around the College.
Despite signs to say as such residents did not think the college and its contractors were considerate builders.
